Technical requirements

This page provides details around the technical requirements of Scientific Publications Cloud product. To ensure an optimal experience with the product, these requirements should be met.

User licensing

For the product to behave as expected, users must be provisioned with the appropriate license and permissions. Named user license types are a per user per month license cost, e.g. if you purchase 100 licenses, you can have 100 users. Monthly user license types only apply to Salesforce Community licenses. License options include:

  • Salesforce - a Salesforce named user license that grants administrator access to the product. Visit Salesforce's documentation.

  • Salesforce Lightning Platform Plus - a Salesforce named user license that grants end user access to the product. Visit Salesforce's documentation.

  • Salesforce Lightning Platform Starter - a Salesforce named user license that grants limited access to the product. Visit Salesforce's documentation.

  • Salesforce Customer Community Plus Login - a Salesforce monthly user license type that grants access to the collaborator portal. Visit Salesforce's documentation.

Salesforce requirements

Scientific Publications Cloud product users must be provisioned with the correct Salesforce edition, and several Salesforce features must be enabled in order for Scientific Publications Cloud product to be installed and function as expected.

Required Salesforce edition

The Salesforce edition must be one of these types:

  • Enterprise Edition

  • Unlimited Edition

Required features

The Scientific Publications Cloud product assumes and depends on several optional Salesforce features. To be able to install Scientific Publications Cloud product, these features must be available and turned on:

  • Lightning Experience

  • My Domain

    Note: Salesforce requires My Domain to be setup and deployed in order to use Lightning Components. Scientific Publications Cloud product makes heavy use of Lightning Components in Lightning Experience. In addition, other optional features, such as SSO, require it.   • Cascade Delete

  • Chatter

  • Translation Workbench with English enabled

  • Middle name and suffix

  • State and country picklist values

  • Multi-currency

  • Digital experiences

    Note: Digital experiences is only required if you are using the collaborator portal.

  • Lightning Web Security (LWS)

Browser support matrix

You need an internet connection to view and access Scientific Publications Cloud product.

Note: Scientific Publications Cloud product recommends using Google Chrome.

Since Scientific Publications Cloud product is delivered through the Salesforce platform, it is constrained to the browser support afforded by Salesforce. The following table details the level of support for various browsers.

Screen resolution

Scientific Publications Cloud product is designed, developed, and tested against a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 or larger. Scientific Publications Cloud product normally functions at lower resolutions; however, the user experience has not been optimized out-of-the-box for these resolutions. In the case of Lightning, it is also recommended that users leverage the Comfy display density available within the user setup.

Hardware and network
