The Scientific Publications Cloud product supports the identification, planning, and drafting of scientific publication articles and content. It gives you the ability to plan, budget, target, and coordinate activities in order to deliver publication content to the appropriate congresses or journals. Mavens's fully integrated publication planning system means multiple people across teams, including external authors, can collaborate, edit, review, and approve content, all in one product.
To ensure an optimal experience with Scientific Publications Cloud, make sure that all installation prerequisites and technical requirements are met. You can also customize, extend, and integrate Scientific Publications Cloud to best support your business requirements and processes. Leverage sandbox environments to facilitate ongoing development and quality assurance activities. The links below will help you get started:
Managed package
The Scientific Publications Cloud product is a managed package, meaning it has some locked components and settings. This allows for future product upgrades. Visit Salesforce's Manage Packages documentation for more information.
Full App vs. Lite App
The Scientific Publications Cloud product has a "Lite App" version designed for reviewers, approvers, and authors who only need focused, task-specific functionality and do not need access to the entire product. The Scientific Publications Cloud Lite App maintains a streamlined, user-friendly solution for publication planning and document management within Salesforce but is designed specifically for engagement with document initiation, reviews, and associated approval workflows. This means that it operates within a constrained set of Salesforce objects and Scientific Publications Cloud modules, metadata, files, and other supporting data but is more cost effective and easier to deploy for teams who need to collaborate without the complexity of the full Scientific Publications Cloud application (i.e.,"Full App").
Lite App users operate under Salesforce Platform Starter licenses while Full App users utilize standard Salesforce Platform licenses. While Mavens may offer certain limited customizations aligned with specific customer workflows, these customizations must strictly adhere to Salesforce licensing restrictions. This means that Lite App customers must ensure their usage remains within Salesforce's Platform Starter license boundaries, particularly regarding the limit of interacting with 10 or fewer custom objects. Excessive or inappropriate customization intended to replicate broader system functionalities beyond the scope defined herein may result in non-compliance with Salesforce licensing agreements and could expose customers to audit risks.
Please consult with your Mavens representative to confirm that any planned customizations or use cases remain within the acceptable parameters for Lite App users.
Documentation
Designed for system administrators and developers who have a working knowledge of the Salesforce platform, the Scientific Publications Cloud documentation contains information about how to configure, customize, and extend the Scientific Publications Cloud product to meet a particular set of requirements.
Note
Scientific Publications Cloud documentation does not contain general guidance, administrative tasks, or development capabilities specific to Salesforce.
Documentation updates
The Scientific Publications Cloud documentation undergoes a major revision with each new release of Scientific Publications Cloud, typically made available on or around the same time a new release is eligible for installation into sandbox environments.
Between releases, the documentation is maintained and updated over time to ensure accurate and timely information. For this reason, Mavens recommends leveraging the online version, rather than static, printed versions of the documentation. For these same reasons, versions of the documentation are not published. The online version of the documentation represents the latest publicly available version of Scientific Publications Cloud.
